CMA Call for Reconciliation Council Members

The Canadian Museum Association is seeking three (3) additional members for the Reconciliation Council.

As the advisory body to the CMA, the Council believes that museums, art galleries and related institutions have a responsibility to consult, advocate, decolonise, reorganise and support Indigenous self-determination.

The CMA Reconciliation Council provides authoritative guidance to the CMA’s Moved to Action program, as well as other related Indigenous initiatives.

While we encourage applicants from coast to coast to coast, and will prioritize applicants of Indigenous descent from the prairies and the northern regions to ensure regional representation.

How to Apply

Applicants are asked to review the Reconciliation Council Relational Agreement and submit a self-nomination of no more than one (1) page, along with an updated resume or LinkedIn profile to reconciliation@museums.ca no later than June 8, 2023.

  • The letter should include the following elements:
  • Name of proposed individual
  • Individual’s affiliation(s) [Nation, community, job, institution, as applicable]
  • Location
  • 250-word bio (maximum) describing relevant experience, knowledge and connections
  • Any additional relevant information, including involvement supporting UNDRIP or self-determination in community or heritage spaces
