A New CMA podcast – Coming May 10!

Unvarnished: Canadian Museums at a Turning Point

Canadian museums are at a crossroads. Hard hit by the pandemic, some have been accused of discriminatory hiring practices and toxic work environments. Others are under fire for their colonial structures and are facing increasingly urgent calls to repatriate their indigenous collections.

But even as they find themselves at the centre of the same debates as the rest of Canadian society, our museum community wants to contribute to the emergence of an era of greater justice in Canada. Is it up to the task?

Listen to our podcast series, "Unvarnished," which will take stock of the state of museums today seen through the lens of CMA's recent conference, “Dismantling Foundations to build a better future".

Join Heather George, Indigenous curator working at the Woodland Cultural Center and CMA board member, Lou-Ann Neel, artist and arts advocate, and member of the CMA's Reconciliation Council, and Massimo Bergamini, chief executive of the CMA, for an honest and unvarnished conversation on the past, present and future of Canadian museums.
