CANADIAN MUSEUM ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE IN CANADA’S MUSEUM COMMUNITY

Ottawa, May 17, 2021 – Every year, the Canadian Museums Association (CMA) marks the end of its conference by celebrating the achievements of its members and of the museum community through the CMA Awards.

In addition to celebrating achievement, the CMA Awards uplift and inspire by helping set community benchmarks of excellence. All are awarded following a competitive process and peer review by a volunteer jury.

This year, the Awards Committee undertook an in-depth review of award categories and selection criteria to better recognize and reflect the dynamic and diverse nature of the role, work and contributions of museums and heritage institutions to Canadian society.

As a result of this review, two new and additional recognition categories have been added to the CMA Awards for Outstanding Achievement: Social Impact and Stewardship of Collections.

As a testament to the large and diverse ecosystem of cultural, heritage and other institutions and groups that make up the museum community in Canada, the CMA also partners with organizations such as the Canadian Federation of Friends of Museums, and others, to recognize and celebrate exceptional contributions to the life of this community.

Join us in congratulating 2021’s award winners:
