CMA Workplace Diversity Survey

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is launching a Workplace Diversity Survey that aims to establish an intersectional baseline for the demographics of museum staff in Canada. Our survey was Inspired by a similar survey conducted by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD), and the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in the US.

The survey is open to heritage-sector institutions in Canada. The results will serve as a springboard for the CMA to prioritize its diversity, equity, and inclusion-related guidance as well as its policy research agenda and advocacy.

While recognizing that this survey cannot make a statement on the entirety of the heritage sector in Canada, it aims to create an intersectional snapshot, identify avenues of further research and set in motion a process of regular surveys that will inform evidence-based action in the direction of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
