Additional YCW Reimbursements

The Young Canada Works (YCW) program can provide financial reimbursements for employer or employee related costs related to accessibility supports and travel. Read on for more details on how to take advantage of this opportunity.

Reimbursement for Accessibility Supports 

YCW is committed to strengthening equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion in youth employment. The program’s job and internship placements offer flexibility and tailored support for those facing employment barriers.

Did you know that the program can cover up to $3000 for job accommodations if you hire a person with a disability or a person facing barriers to employment? Potential accommodations include, but are not limited to:

  •  Workstation modifications, such as assistive/specialized software, technical aids, and ergonomic equipment.
  • sign language interpreters
  • mental health supports 
  • Flexible work arrangements (e.g., flexible hours, breaks, ability to work from home) 
  • Space for cultural or religious practices (e.g., smudging, prayer) 
  • Networks and social services (e.g., employee networks, healing/resource centres)
  • Flexible vacation time (e.g., religious observation, cultural ceremonies, sustenance hunting)
  • Support with transportation or relocation costs 
  • Support with childcare or dependents care
  • Mentorship or coaching 
  • Needs assessment and case management

Reimbursement for Employee Relocation

Young Canada Works can help cover the costs of travel and enroute accommodation costs for students and interns who travel more that 125km from their permanent address to reach the location of their employment. To take advantage of this reimbursement, submit a travel claim form and any receipts for costs incurred to your Program Officer for review.
