30-Jan-2018 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Mark your calendars!

The Ottawa Declaration Working Group (ODWG) will host “Taking it to the Next Level: Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAMs) Summit 2018.”

The co-chairs of the ODWG, Guy Berthiaume and John McAvity, invite you to participate in the second Summit, “Taking it to the Next Level: GLAM Summit 2018.”

Building on last year’s Summit on the Value of GLAMS, “Taking it to the Streets,” this year’s conference will be an interactive day of discussion drawing on the following themes:

        I.            Communities: How can collaborative relationships among GLAMs benefit local communities, as well as provide greater opportunities for building links with youth, education, and fostering community identity?

II.            Indigenous peoples: How can GLAMs work more closely with Indigenous peoples to renew relationships that are based on mutual understanding and respect?

III.            Private sector: How can GLAMs work with the private sector to encourage greater innovation?

IV.            Government priorities: How can GLAMs advance their interests vis-à-vis various levels of government ?

We are interested in your ideas! Drawing from both panellists and participants, the “Taking it to the Next Level” Summit will develop a collective approach to strategic collaboration and visibility. Speakers will include Senator Patricia E. Bovey and Josh Basseches (Royal Ontario Museum), among others. Discussions will provide the opportunity to explore how GLAMs can demonstrate their value beyond the immediate sector.

When: 30 January 2018, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where: The Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queen's Park, Toronto

Cost: Registration is free
