Young Canada Works program open for applications for 2021-22

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is the voice for Canada’s vibrant museum community. We advocate for public policies and support, we build skills across the profession, and we establish and inspire connections to strengthen and sustain museums.

One of our objectives is to strengthen the museum workforce today and for the future. We do this in various ways, including through the Young Canada Works (YCW) program, which we deliver on behalf of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy. Check out this short video!

Could your institution use another set of hands? The CMA is delighted to officially launch the YCW program for the 2021-22 year for both program streams:

  • Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations (YCW-HO): short-term work experiences for students
  • Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage (YCW-BCH): internships for recent college or university graduates

YCW is an important investment in the future of the museum industry, creating professional development opportunities for future colleagues, all while bolstering the capacity of museums and heritage institutions.

Employers, please visit our YCW webpage for all the information you need about program eligibility, guidelines and tips on how to submit a great application.

The deadline for applications is January 22, 2021 for YCW-HO and March 1, 2021 for YCW-BCH , so we encourage you to start now.

Questions about the YCW program? Contact us at ycw@museums.ca.

Are you a CMA member? You don’t need to be a member of the CMA to participate in the YCW program. If you are already a member of the CMA, we thank you for your support, which helps us deliver much-needed programs and services to the sector. Visit our website to find out more about the CMA. Our mission is to champion, support, connect and elevate the museum sector.

Young Canada Works is generously supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage.
