Join us online:  Museums Together virtual conference, April 16, 2020

The CMA is proud to offer Museums Together, a free, one-day, virtual event to discuss some of the key issues facing Canada’s museums today.

Please mark your calendar and join the CMA and partners on April 16th starting at 11 a.m. ET for a variety of stimulating sessions covering key issues for museums today and in the future.

All sessions will be streamed, with speakers joining via webcam, and they will be offered in both official languages.

No registration is required for the public portion of the event. Just add it to your calendar and bookmark this page. The sessions will be available via a link on the webpage.

Our online event public program features the following:

  • Hear a welcome message by the CMA’s Executive Director and CEO, Vanda Vitali, who will share CMA highlights since taking on the role in late October 2019.
  • Enjoy a keynote presentation by Jack Lohman, CBE, President of the Board of the CMA and CEO of the Royal British Columbia Museum. Professor Lohman will focus on the issues and challenges museums are facing in Canada and around the world, including and beyond the pandemic.
  • We are also delighted to be joined by the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage. Minister Guilbeault will share thoughts on the important role of museums and will also provide an update on the Government’s support in light of the pandemic. Minister Guilbeault will also join us for a Canada-wide roundtable discussion with Provincial and Territorial Museums Associations, who will engage in a conversation with the Minister on a variety of hot topics.
  • The last segment of our public program involves a panel with the CMA, the National Trust of Canada, the Alliance of Natural History Museums of Canada, the Canadian Association of Science Centres and Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums, Toronto Zoo and The Exploration Place. Hear these organizations share common concerns and challenges and explore what can be done by working together.

Following the public event, beginning at 1:15 ET, join the CMA for a virtual Annual General Meeting

For the first time in the history of the CMA, we are conducting our AGM online. Hear from our Board of Directors about the latest CMA business, read the CMA's 2019 Annual Report and other related documents, and share your views and votes through interactive online features.

This session is open to CMA members only and requires special access credentials.
