International Museums Day

International Museums Day

Every year, May 18 marks the International Museum Day.  First organized in 1977 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), it is a day to celebrate and raise awareness on the importance of museums within each of our communities. The 2018 theme is Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics.

Tell us how you celebrate the day

Are you planning any special activities? Are you offering free admission and want to spread the word? Or do you simply want to share your love of museums? Join in on the conversation on social media! Use the hashtag #MuseumDay.

And why not use this occasion to invite your local Member of Parliament to visit your museum on May 18 to see first-hand the contributions your museum makes to the community, as well as understand your museum's needs?

For more information on preparing for May 18, sharing your activities and viewing previous events, please visit the International Museums Day website.

On behalf of everyone at the CMA, we wish you all a Happy Museum Day!
