TRAVEL BURSARIES

       

Travel bursaries are given out to assist individuals with their transportation costs to museum related courses and workshops, both nationally and internationally.

Read the Program Guidelines and Regulations for criteria, program ineligibilities, and other important regulations that apply to ALL bursary types.

Eligibility:

Open to applicants employed by a public, non-profit museum or related organization, in a full or part-time capacity. It is also open to volunteers who contribute their time and services on a consistent basis

Value:

Up to a maximum of $400 per event for transportation costs only. An additional $100 is available for individuals in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Exact mileage figures must be given when claiming for the use of an automobile. The mileage rate is 43 cents per kilometer.

Location:

Anywhere in Canada or internationally.

Frequency:

Applicants may receive a maximum of two travel bursaries within any 12-month period. A bursary will be awarded only once for any specific topic.

Deadlines:

Application deadlines: The bursary application along with the required support material must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the beginning of the learning activity. The application must include a detailed agenda outlining the program and a letter of support from the candidate’s employer/institution.

Application note: You must apply for a bursary BEFORE the event you are planning to attend. 

Claim deadlines: The bursary must be claimed no later than 4 weeks after completion of the learning activity upon submission of original receipts and proof of attendance.

Support Material:

The bursary application must include a detailed agenda outlining the program and a letter of support from their employer/institution.
