Dr. David Grattan, Conservation
Throughout his 30-year career, Dr. David Grattan has made a significant contribution to conservation through his work at the Canadian Conservation Institute. An internationally recognized specialist, Dr. Grattan is respected for sharing his expertise with colleagues around the world. He was chair of ICOM-CC's directory board for two terms, has led two ICOM-CC working groups, and was a member of the lCOM reform task force on International Committees.

Magdalen Islands Aquarium, “Young People’s Scientific Exhibition on Marine Mammals”The Young People's Scientific Exhibition on Marine Mammals [trans] is a permanent exhibition produced by the Magdalen lslands Aquarium (QC), in partnership with the local school board (Commission scolaire des Îles-de-la-Madeleine), and the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles-de-la-Madeleine.The aquarium's innovative approach has increased young people's awareness of their environment and their heritage, while enhancing respect for and sharing of communal knowledge.
Honourable mention
The partnership between the Nuiyak School and the Najuqsivik Society Museum (Sanikiluaq NU) received an honourable mention for The Community Museum Project.2007 CMA AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING
Conservation
Peterborough Centennial Museum and Archives The Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives (ON) responded quickly to a flood, and saved thousands of historical glass negatives from the Balsillie Collection of Roy Studio lmages, with the expertise of Rosco Document Restoration. The PCMA Flooded Negatives Restoration set new standards for document recovery in museum conservation, which were shared throughout the international community.
Education
Calgary Military Museums Society and the Crowfoot Gee Force Bantam Hockey team
What do the Calgary Military Museums Society (CMMS) and the Crowfoot Gee Force Bantam Hockev team have in common? The Vimy Ridge Education Project! The team visited CMMS, Vimy Ridge (France), Dachau (Germay), several Canadian war cemeteries, and participated in the moving Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres (Belgium).

Exhibitions
Reynolds-Albert Museum
The Reynolds-Alberta Museum's exhibition Life and Times of the Motorcycle allowed visitors to participate in the conservation of a 1939 Indian Junior Scout motorcycle and concluded with the donation of motorcycles to the collection. The museum brouqht in an impressive level of sponsorship and increased attendance by 24%, hitting 100,000 visitors from all over the world.

Journalism
Val Ross
Born in London, Ontario, educated in England, and a graduate of the University of Toronto, Val Ross has had a distinguished career in journalism, and as an author. Since 1987, she has held various positions with the Globe and Mail from stints on the editorial pages, to over 10 years as an arts reporter covering museums and other arts issue.

The Société des musées québécois published the beautiful guide Museums to Discover. In terms of its quality, graphics, and photos, the guide is both an excellent marketing tool for Quebec museums, and a user-friendly reference for museum visitors in a specific region of Quebec.
Sponsorship
Alcan The multinational corporation Alcan generously sponsored the McCord Museum's (Montreal QC) outdoor exhibition, Transactions. With Alcan's support, 58 larqe-scale photoqraphs lillustrating various aspects of Montreal's history and cultural diversity were displayed outdoors along McGill College Avenue.
Volunteerism
Doris M. SmithDoris M. Smith has served the museum community as a volunteerfor over 30 vears, at the National Gallerv of Canada (Ottawa ON),and at the State HermitageMuseum Foundation ofCanada lnc. She is currentlyworking on a book aboutthe history of 50 years ofvolunteering at the NGC.Respected by her col-leagues, she has alwaysbeen a tireless advocate forthe arts.
