Museums and other heritage institutions are among the top job generators in Canada's cultural sector. They employ tens of thousands of people across the country, from guides and curators to directors and managers. In order to gain a better picture of the labour market of its members, the Canadian Museums Association has undertaken the latest national compensation survey of museums.
The results of this important survey, conducted in 2011 are now available in the form of a comprehensive report. Data includes details on base salaries for 40 positions, current employment trends and practices, and information on benefits and perquisites.
